Expanding our physical presence with the opening of the Cleveland Showroom, we transformed an over 100-year-old building into a functional, modern workplace while preserving its historic charm. Applying our expertise, we created acoustic comfort through sound-absorbing finishes and architectural elements, relocated workstations, refined layouts, and added subtle color updates that further optimized the space for daily use.
Ohio holds a special place in our story at Office Revolution. When we opened our Columbus office in 2018, Ohio became our second home, and marked our evolution from a Chicago-based dealer to the regional service provider we are today. For that reason, we were thrilled to open another office in Ohio, venturing into the Cleveland market.
Located in Cleveland’s warehouse district, a historic area known for its industrial roots and charming Victorian architecture, the new office incorporates a light, modern aesthetic within a building that is more than 100 years old. The design celebrates the contrast between past and present, thoughtfully blending the building’s historic character with contemporary workplace solutions. Echoing this contrast, we focused on an intermixing of old and new throughout the space. Collaborating with Teknion, we chose a variety of modern, new furnishings from their recent collection, complemented by older pieces generously donated from their Chicago showroom.
One of the biggest challenges in adapting the historic building into a comfortable and functional workplace was managing acoustics. To address this, we incorporated soft textures that absorb sound along with architectural interior products from Teknion’s Altos and Within portfolios, helping to reduce echo.
Architectural walls also played an important role in navigating the building’s compact, multi-level floorplate. To maximize limited square footage, we used the Within structure around our café to define the area while maintaining visual openness. Additionally, the Teknion Cityline A-Frame entertainment center helps guide foot traffic from the lobby while creating a sense of privacy for the lounge vignette tucked behind it. Throughout the space, furniture groupings of varying heights establish distinct zones while maintaining a cohesive visual flow.
Above the main floor, a loft level provides a dedicated home for the design team. This quieter space supports focused work while offering generous table space for material layouts and team collaboration. Additional areas throughout the office encourage cross-functional interaction, including a cozy conference room featuring SitOnIt Sona chairs and an Enwork Foundation table, surrounded by oversized windows that bring in abundant natural light. Nearby, a media huddle room adds a playful touch, with acoustic panels upholstered in muted green and Studio TK Clip chairs introducing contrast with peach and black finishes.
After occupancy, we applied the same service philosophy we bring to our clients—evaluating how the space performs in real time and making thoughtful adjustments. In order to create more separation from the touchdown area, we relocated a two-pack of workstations from the secondary meeting area to the loft and reoriented the four-pack stations to follow the length of the space. Select fascias in the architectural walls were also swapped to introduce subtle color where the palette initially felt too neutral. As a finishing layer, our designers added plants and accessories to bring in biophilic elements and create a warm, lived-in atmosphere.
The result is a workspace that honors the building’s historic architecture while incorporating modern upgrades to enhance the everyday office experience— reflecting both Cleveland’s character and Office Revolution’s evolving presence in Ohio.
