As leaders in workspace solutions, we leveraged our expertise and in house design team—reimagining our Chicago office to better support our team, culture, and evolving work approach. With in-house designers, intentional product selections, and a wellness-focused approach, the refreshed space showcases our design capabilities while demonstrating the impact of aligning physical space with the people who power it.
When it came time to reinvigorate our office space, we approached the challenge as we would any client project—through a lens of strategy, intention, and human-centered design. Senior Designers Abby Boeheim and Alyssa Ludwig were selected through an in-house design competition to lead the transformation. Their winning concept integrated WELL Building Standard strategies, emphasizing air quality, biophilic design, acoustical comfort, and opportunities for movement—creating a space that enhances well-being while supporting how we work every day.
As with many companies, our workspace needs have evolved in recent years, with a shift toward hybrid work, expansion across multiple markets, and an increased reliance on digital tools for connection and collaboration. The refresh gave us the opportunity to realign our physical environment with our culture. We reimagined underutilized areas, replacing private offices with tech-enabled virtual meeting rooms. Outdated computer docking stations were replaced with Humanscale M/Flex monitors supporting versatility, allowing team members to plug in from any workstation regardless of device. Consistent AV setups across all meeting rooms were enabled to provide seamless communication across our growing network of offices throughout the Midwest.
We also made space for one of the most compelling parts of our work culture—community and connection. A revitalized café area encourages team members to pause, recharge, and connect over coffee and snacks. A dedicated Mother’s Room reflects our commitment to supporting working parents and their return to the workspace. White noise machines and curated playlists elevate the office’s soundscape, while live greenery purifies the air and infuses a sense of calm.
Throughout the refresh, we took the same client-centric approach we’re known for: we evaluated what was still serving end users and what needed to evolve, leveraged feedback from cross-functional teams, and made intentional choices to support well-being and collaboration.
We didn’t start from scratch—we refined with purpose. We reused key furniture pieces, incorporated sustainability throughout, and designed with adaptability in mind—prioritizing key partner brands such as Teknion, OFS, Humanscale, the Senator Group, Custom Crafters, and Level Reps. In short, we practiced what we preach.
Today, our refreshed space is more than just a workplace—it’s a living case study. It reflects our values, celebrates our culture, and demonstrates our ability to design spaces that support our people, purpose, and performance.
