Contributing to Chicago’s booming biotech market, Evozyne recently took over 30,000 square feet of office and lab space at 2430 N. Halsted in the city’s Lincoln Park neighborhood. The growing company moved into the same building as their parent company, Paragon Biosciences. Evozyne worked with building owner Sterling Bay and A&D firm CannonDesign to envision a space that could house their extensive lab and sizable equipment, as well as all the Evozyne employees, who are actively addressing agricultural, biopharmaceutical, energy, industrial, and environmental challenges.
This project was a natural fit for Office Revolution. Prior to any tenants moving in, we had furnished the building’s amenity spaces, lobby and conference center. When Paragon moved in, we delivered the furniture package for their space as well.
All projects have timelines that must be adhered to. However, Evozyne’s time constraints were a little unique. As a biotech company, Evozyne’s lab is at the heart of their business, and it is critical that they are never without an operational lab. The company was moving and needed the new space and lab fully functioning before they moved out of old space. In addition to playing a critical role in project timing, the lab took center stage when designing the office.
The space completed seamlessly, supporting both the staff and their lab. Teknion Focus Architectural Interiors create pockets of privacy, while allowing the saturated palette of each room to filter into the hallways. Teknion Navigate Height-Adjustable Bench provides optimal workstation ergonomics and accessible collaboration, while the café boasts a variety of dining and lounge furniture from Allermuir, Arcadia, Davis & Studio TK, to name a few.
“Evozyne moving into 2430 N Halsted is yet another sign that Chicago is an emerging leader in life sciences…Sterling Bay is committed to developing leasable, high-quality lab space so that forward-thinking life science companies like Evozyne have a place to grow and can continue to attract talent to the city of Chicago to make lasting scientific advancements,” Andy Gloor, CEO, Sterling Bay.
