The Story

Haslam Sports Group, the owners of the Columbus Crew, Cleveland Browns, and Milwaukee Bucks, sought to renovate the iconic Municipal Light Plant located across from Lower.com Field. This renovation was intended to serve as a facility for staffing of both their team and the Columbus Crew. As a trusted club furniture provider with a proven track record of success, Office Revolution collaborated closely with Haslam Sports Group and Mathias Collective from the initial concept all the way to project completion.

The Municipal Light Plant’s historic architecture lends a truly remarkable and distinctive industrial ambiance to this space. In collaboration with Mathias Collective, the furniture within this environment effortlessly integrates with the building’s foundation, flawlessly complementing its structural elements. Moreover, the close proximity to their stadium offers awe-inspiring views from the upper patio, fostering a deeper sense of camaraderie between the staff and players.

Columbus Crew employees and players are immediately welcomed with an asymmetrical Teknion Reception desk, complementing the linear, layered industrial vibe. The open office space is furnished with Teknion Interpret™ benching workstations, which promote seamless communication throughout all departments. This versatile system not only meets the team’s technological needs but also provides the durability required for everyday use. In addition, we equipped the conference room with a top-of-the-line Teknion C+D glass boardroom table. With its impressive length of 20 feet, this table comfortably accommodates up to 14 individuals, with additional seating along the perimeter for overflow. This exceptional table is perfect for hosting various professional gatherings and strategizing sessions.

Working with a historic structure presented several obstacles that required careful consideration. Our team collaborated closely with the general contractor and installers to adjust our timeline, ensure proper staging, and avoid excessive product storage costs.

Despite the complex nature of the project and the challenges we encountered along the way, we successfully transformed this historic building into a remarkable space for the Columbus Crew. The design concept focused on creating an open office environment that facilitated seamless communication, accessibility, and visibility among all departments within the organization.
