THE STORY
As a part of the West Loop development project, we collaborated with the city of Chicago to bring the newest branch of the Chicago Public Library system to life.
The building that now houses the library was donated to the city by Sterling Bay and was once home to Oprah’s Harpo Studios television production space. Upon entering, the wooden bow truss ceiling quickly attracts your eye, accompanied by the pops of color from the studioTK Qui ottomans that are strategically placed around the main room. The library also features work spaces, a recording studio, and an early childhood play area.
We worked alongside SOM and Sterling Bay to execute a project with a tight budget and a demanding schedule. The end result was a landmark building that will inspire and educate generations to come.
